Meet Dawn and her daughter in-law Jade, racing as a family.
A life changing kidney transplant in 2015 is Dawn's motivation to stay fit and healthy, so when she was looking for ideas to get fitter and lose weight a work colleague pointed her towards Virtual Racing!
We wanted to get to know them a little better and know what how they bother came about racing with us.
Jade told us....
How did you hear about Virtual Racing UK?
I heard about virtual racing UK from my mother in law who explained how you could get more active and get a great medal as a reward!
What inspired you to start Virtual Racing?
My husband and myself have been married for 2 years now, together for 8, and we would like to start a family, however, I suffer from PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome) so being overweight I could struggle to conceive, thats why I need to loose some weight!
How many races have you taken part in?
I have completed 11 races so far and I currently have 9 races waiting to be completed!
Which has been your favourite and why?
I think out of all the medals I have so far I think my favourite would have to be my Honey Pot Challenge, such a beautiful medals and for a great cause!
What benefits have you noticed as a result?
I started my journey to weight-loss on the 25th April 2019 and completed my first medal 9km Feline Frolic not long after that. Since then, to today's date I have lost a total of 1 stone and a half, the medals have given me the motivation to carry on!
Would you recommend Virtual Racing to a friend?
Hell Yeah! I tell everyone about virtual racing UK and show them my beautiful medals! Anything else we should know? I just want to thank the guys at Virtual Racing UK for helping me on my weight-loss journey and giving me the drive to get to my target weight and start a family!
You guys are amazing!
Dawn's Story...
How did you hear about Virtual Racing UK?
A work colleague told me about it when I was saying how I needed motivating to get fitter and lose weight.
What inspired you to start Virtual Racing?
I was lucky enough to have a kidney transplant in 2015, but since then my weight has gone up. I need to stay fit and healthy for as long as possible so needed to lose the weight.
How many races have you taken part in?
At least a dozen since joining in December and have signed up for at least 4 more so far... it’s very additive
Which has been your favourite and why?
Think it would be the Streaky Blinders, my first one, which proved I could make time every day for walking.
What benefits have you noticed as a result?
I have lost almost 10 kilos since starting and feel much fitter. Also happy to walk distances I wouldn’t consider before
Would you recommend Virtual Racing to a friend?
Definitely, have already got my Daughter in law and other son and girlfriend doing races!
Anything else we should know?
Am looking forward to reaching my target weight and achieve my 1000 mile medal by December
